In March 2024 a significant security incident affected the Kazakhstani microfinance organization Zaimer.kz. The breach was part of a larger campaign targeting multiple financial entities in the region. Initially a sample of 500000 records was leaked but subsequently a more comprehensive database containing over 2 million unique user profiles was exposed. The data was likely obtained through unauthorized access to internal databases or API vulnerabilities. The leaked information includes highly sensitive personal details and financial contact data which poses a high risk of identity theft and targeted phishing attacks against the affected customers.
