Zoosk 2020

In January 2020 the online dating service Zoosk suffered a significant data breach that exposed information from approximately 24 million unique accounts. The compromised data included email addresses and extensive personal profiles containing gender, dates of birth, height, weight, religious beliefs, ethnic background, and political affiliations. While the breach circulated widely within hacker communities, most versions of the leaked data did not include user passwords. The incident highlights the risks associated with large scale collection of sensitive personal data on social and dating platforms.
