In early 2019 the educational web platform Zunal suffered a significant data breach involving approximately 500000 user records. The compromised database contained sensitive personal information including full names and email addresses. Most critically the leak included user passwords stored in plain text format which poses a massive security risk for individuals reusing those credentials across other platforms. The incident appears to be a direct extraction of the user database from the web quest creation service.
